some pictures from the opening!

dad with my uncle and aunt: the highest spenders of the day!
my little cousin siddartha clutching the individolls he can't choose between. in the end he chose the yellow plaid construction worker. check out the individium site to see what i'm talking about.

mum and aunt, the people who started it all...

some of the jewellery...

bags! bags! more bags! now do you see why i want to be the shop's honorary model?

taking advantage of this post for some quick rambling. i'm wondering if i should send in some book reviews to the local newspaper and see if i can earn some extra cash to spend at the flea market. plus being a book reviewer means i get free books to read! what do you think?

we've been at the shop the whole day today because it is now officially open! visit the facebook page here to check out the stuff and show your support by "liking" it! =)
people have been coming and going since a while after we opened, our first customers being my aunt, uncle and cousins. after that a number of friends and relatives came and went and many bought. even a couple of people we didn't know wandered in and got some things and many people stopped to look in the window.
spent the day in a rather dreamy way under the influence of cool air-conditioning, comfortable sofas, world music and incense that smells like gingerbread which always makes me feel settled in. i've ditched the lord of the rings for now to read the hobbit... i'll be picking up the former again soon though.
with a one week term holiday coming up next saturday i might have some time to put together a decent look to have photographed for the blog. expect to see the owl ring and maybe some items from the shop...!

broken glass and greyson chance

night of broken glass by ahermin and greyson chance waiting outside the lines cover

it's now about 11.40 pm and we're still hanging out at our shop in sunway lagoon club which will be opening its doors tomorrow. we've been here since school ended and i've been helping out in any way i can, be it assembling furniture, arranging displays or writing the price tags.
today i started reading the lord of the rings, put together an ikea chair by myself, accidentally shattered a glass by knocking it over while arguing with my sister for a cup of coffee, and watched the shop come to life. drop by and see for yourself...!
yesterday i got an email from a friend of mine saying "i'm no bieber fan, but then again, this guy's not bieber, just listen!" and an attached video. it was then that i discovered the very surprisingly talented greyson chance. i'd somehow convinced myself that he wouldn't be worth listening to because he would just be another tween pop phenomenon. i guess i should make it a habit to never ever judge a book by its cover.
----------------------------
a word about justin bieber: i'm not really the biggest fan of the guy's music, but recently i came across this video on youtube which was titled something along the lines of "justin bieber's character gets shot and killed on csi". curious old me clicked on it. i didn't have much of an opinion on it until i browsed the comments. then i went into full defensive mode. for bieber.
the comments section was overflowing with hateful comments saying they wished bieber had been killed in real life, that was the best thing they'd ever watched, justin bieber has no talent, die bieber die, bieber is gay (though i dunno why being gay is such a bad thing) and so on and so forth.
now come on. what did the guy ever do to you?
i've already said i'm not a belieber or anything like that, but have some respect for him. he's gotten so far at such a young age and done things i'm still looking for ways to achieve. he's only human, and wishing him dead is not going to ease the jealousy and envy you have for him.
so if you can't love him, or even like him, at least show him some respect, just as much respect as any average human being is due.
